Commercial Challenge & Objectives

The client sought to monetize low-grade secondary hazardous waste—specifically industrial copper ash—by recovering high-purity copper units that would otherwise be lost to landfill or low-value slag trading. The primary commercial objective was to engineer a highly selective, micro-scale hydrometallurgical processing facility capable of handling complex ash impurities, optimizing solvent extraction metrics, and delivering profitable, commercial-grade copper cathodes at a baseline capacity of 350 TPA.

Core Process Engineering Scope

Proventus Valuetech isolated and engineered the high-value metallurgical core of this facility:

01

Selective Leaching & Mass Balance

Engineering the chemical agitation and leaching circuits to maximize the dissolution of copper from the ash matrix while minimizing iron and impurity carryover.

02

Solvent Extraction (SX) Circuit Optimization

Design and configuration of the mixer-settler arrangement, selecting optimal organic extractants and scrubbing loops to enrich the aqueous electrolyte stream.

03

Electrowinning (EW) Cell House Configuration

Custom layout of the electrowinning cell parameters, including precise busbar sizing and current density regulation to guarantee dense, non-porous cathode deposition.

Project Delivery Mode Execution

Owner's Engineering Consultant (OEC)

Acting as the Owner's Engineering Consultant (OEC), Proventus Valuetech served as the investor's independent technical authority. We performed critical drawing reviews of the hydrometallurgical equipment layout, audited the fabrication tolerances of the specialized plastic/composite mixer-settlers, and supervised the sequential fluid-loop commissioning protocols to ensure contract compliance and safe chemical handling.
